ECYG-SL Gets a new National Youth Coordinator
The Earth Charter Youth Group Sierra Leone is pleased to introduce its new National Youth Coordinator, Musa Ansumana Soko. Mr. Soko is the Executive Coordinator of Youth Partnership for Peace and Development (YPPD), a local youth NGO that seeks to contribute to the endeavors of supporting youth development, peaceful conflict resolution, stability and sustainable development and peace and democracy in Sierra Leone. YPPD works to increase the capacity of vulnerable groups through training, partnership, advocacy, enhancing youth knowledge base and equipping them with livelihood skills. It is a platform for diverse kinds of actions committed to engaging key stakeholders at different levels of development across the country. Click here to view profile.

EC 2009 Annual Report released!
The Earth Charter International Secretariat is pleased to announce the release of the Earth Charter Annual Report for 2009. This report offers an overview of activities led by the Earth Charter International (ECI) secretariat and affiliates, volunteers, and partner organizations. While it does not intend to offer a comprehensive account of all efforts carried out in 2009, it offers a glimpse into these undertakings. Click here to see it.
Major EC gatherings will take place in Mexico from 22 to 24 April to formally launch the year long commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Earth Charter. On 22 April the event will start with a ceremony that will have the participation of Mexican President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa. For more click here.
The Little EC is an adaptation of the Earth Charter for children with eight principles. It's an audio-visual educational programme created by Little Animation and Rosie Emery in consultation with the Earth Charter Initiative. Three organizations from Azerbaijan, Finland and Kyrgystan have joined the Earth Charter Initiative as ECI Affiliate. Their plan is to help raise awareness about the Earth Charter in their respective countries.

A Global Call for Submissions - You are invited to reflect on personal experiences of deep connection. We are gathering personal stories and photos from every region of the world on the theme of connection, and will publish selected submissions in a book, to be released internationally in 2010. Send in your submissions by May 1st, 2010. Youth campaign celebrating the 10 years of the Earth Charter has had its kick off on January 15, 2010 in Belarus! The start of the Campaign took place in Domotkanovichi secondary school (Kletsk region, Minsk area) during the seminar on Local Agenda-21 as a mechanism for the Earth Charter regional implementation. The Earth Charter Affiliate in Russia, the Center for Russian Environmental Policy and Culture, is planning to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Earth Charter launch with several large-scale activities which will start on March 23, 2010, in Moscow. Click here.
